I always thought he was smarter than that…

If you have vision…

Remember we were talking about vision the other day?

You have to stick with it. Don’t alter your vision because other people can’t see it.

Doing that will dilute your vision and make it U recognizable in the day that the right person/company/distributor comes along.

Stay the course. Stick with the program. Don’t try to be something that someone else wants with personally or personally (more on that personal some other time).

Think rather that the people you are trying to attract will, possibly, eventually rise up to your level.

I auditioned for a Rob Reiner film a bunch of years ago. I auditioned for Rob himself.

I love Rob.

I didn’t get the role.

My first thought was “Damn. I always thought Rob was smarter than that!”

Stay the course.

You have to have a target… So you know when you hit it!

  1. John, Sometimes we think people will understand our heart, mind, and vision, but we are disappointed when they just “don’t get it.” It’s part of human nature that people don’t always understand what we are going through or something about what we can see for the future. In this day of political strife, we have a certain idea of how things should be, but other people may have a different course. It’s an imperfect world. We have to believe in ourselves whether or not we can trust other people or not, we have to stay with our own deep convictions.

  2. John sometimes you have to just have faith in the process along the way. So you didn’t snag the role, but it gave you something to think about what you really want and maybe that role was not going to bring you closer to your goal.
Life is about choices and sometimes we are in total control of the choices we make and other times other people are making them for us. To quote a very wise man who saved my life 5 years ago, “….. sometimes we are just victims of other people’s choices….” so it becomes our job to just move on and keep your eye on the prize, which I feel with the release of Smothered later this month, you have done just that you stayed on course.
